Rock Ware
A range of functional domestic-ware developed through collaborations with artists and volunteers on recent Grizedale Arts projects, consolidated by The Farmer's Arms workshop team.
In use across the Inn, the range reflects the natural qualities of clay and the simple manipulation of it in various states, from wet to its final high fired incarnation. Each item is wheel thrown before being carved by hand and high fired at 1280c.
The green mottled glaze utilises ash from The Farmer's Arms pizza oven which forms the rivulets in its final finish. Wood ash is one of the earliest types of glaze, incorporated here using local materials that would otherwise be waste.
Dishwasher and food safe, colours and finishes may change according to natural variation of the ash glaze.
More About Rock Ware:
Originally conceived as part of an Anglo Korean and Japanese exchange hosted by Grizedale Arts and Wysing Arts called Making Everyday, the aim was to develop a product that could be made by anyone. Learn more about the project here.
